Bob earned his plumbing license in 1969 and showed promise early on by coming in 2nd place in the State Plumbing Contest. He sold his motorcycle to buy his first piece of equipment and started his business out of his garage in North Downers Grove. His daughter Tracy started answering the phone on summer break when she was just 12 yrs old. Working nights and weekends with just a land line telephone, a pager and a van, Bob grew his business based on quality workmanship, honesty and integrity. He did home service and new construction plumbing all over Du Page County mostly by himself and a part time helper.

As his reputation grew so did his business. After several years he moved to a bigger location on Ogden Ave, added a Plumber, a full time helper, a new van and a secretary. Bob incorporated his business in 1974 as Robert Bair Plumbing Inc. After several more years as the company continued to grow, he offered his customers more home services by adding the Heating and Air Conditioning division. With more trucks, equipment and technicians, he moved again to 447 Rogers Street in Downers Grove a location with enough space for a warehouse, office space and truck/employee parking. More - larger trucks were purchased to accommodate adequate parts to keep up the customers varied needs. Bob changed the name of his company from Robert Bair Plumbing Inc. to Robert Bair Services. Needing better communication with his staff the company moved from paper & pagers to Nextel radios & computers with a fulltime dispatcher.

Today the company has about 30 employees and 15 trucks. Most recently added is the Solar & Geothermal division to deal with our customers concerns about rising energy costs. The company continues to grow and evolve in order to keep up with the needs our customers. Today the company values are the same as they were in the beginning - with quality workmanship, honesty and integrity at its core. The company is known for fast reliable service. In 2005 the company was acknowledged by the Better Business Bureau by being nominated for the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics and by the Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce as a finalist for Service Excellence Award. In 2006, 2007 & 2008 Robert Bair Services was again acknowledged by being nominated by the BBB for the Torch Award. In 2009 Robert Bair Services won the Business Excellence Award for small business from the Suburban Business Ledger and voted “Best in Service” by the Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce. Robert Bair continues to strive for excellence, listening to customer comments, sending his staff for ongoing education and then delivers these professionals to you in fully stocked trucks with the newest equipment available.
